Not sure about New York, but here in Washington state I went to one of those ';special'; low cost filing places. What they advertised was $155 divorce filing(no contest), which at the time was what my wife and I were examining.(Awww, we reconciled and are back together).
The actual cost by the time we got through was almost $600. There were documentation fees, county fees, this fee, that fee...because we own a home and have kids, a car still under lien, etc, then it costs more for every page they have to fill out(it seems like)
It's not false advertising...if you don't have any assets, or kids, or anything to fight over or dispute, yeah, then it might be $335, but don't bet on it if you have ANYTHING outside of just you and her both willing to split.
So I guess my answer is - It may be true, but only under certain circumstances....
